I've seen people bashing these. I see a few kits around with US barrels. OK, I know lancaster had SERIOUS problems, but otherwise, I'd buy a 7.62X39 AR15 barrel from M1S and not think twice, so what exactly is so bad about buying a kit with a US barrel?
My thing is I really don't have any money right now to stock up on original barrels, but I'm thinking if I wait I'll be buying a kit with US barrel as that's all that will be around by the time I get any money.

There have been problems with US made barrels - 5.45 barrels with the wrong bore, 5.45 barrals with oversized gas ports, at least one report of a stainless barrel wearing out in very few shots.
These problems cause some people to shy away from US made barrels. Others don't like the fact that US barrels usually aren't chrome lined. However, I haven't seen any reports of problem with US made 7.62 barrels and there have been enough rifles sold with those that if there were problems, we'd know about them. |

BTW: where can I buy US barrels?? I saw copes had them, but apperently not any more. I'd like to get a barrel that fits a polish or romanian under folder. Are there any stainless barrels? |

You need to look around to find US barrels for the AK. Places I turn to are:
Copesdistributing Apex Guns Centerfiresystems (several others, but those are the ones I remember finding barrels at).

Just taking a guess here but I assume the earlier year barrel is heavier so it's for the earlier model ak.

go to armsofamerica.ccom. they got reg barrels for 70 and chromelines for 90 shippings like 10.00. he has polish and romis in stock. super fast shipping too
