Should bore cleaners with ammonia be avoided for chrome lined ARs?  Thought I read somewhere it should not be used in CL bores.

you read incorrect. treat a cl bore the same as a non cl bore.

it is nickel platted firearms that you need to avoid.

Just do not soak a chrome lined bore overnight. Some of the ammonia based solvent will react to the chrome and start to eat it away over time if left in the bore.
