Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Grease?

I field stripped my AR for the first time and cleaned everything.  When I took out the bolt I noticed that it had some sort of grease on it.   It was dirty so I wiped all of the grease off.  After I finished cleaning I applied gun oil to everything and put it back together.  

Is gun oil acceptable lubrication or am I supposed to put some sort of grease on the bolt?

BF CLP (oil) or better is just fine for a AR type rifle.

From my experience grease is simply too thick to use on an AR. You might want to use one of the CLP’s on the market. I use Break-Free’s CLP and LP. Read through the forum for more on lube.
