I am also curious to see what brand boresnake people use. I was thinking of getting one, although it would only be for quick cleaning at the range.

I use the Hoppes #9 boresnakes and have been very satisfied with their performance. I have .223, .30, .38/9mm, and .45, and I've never had a problem with function or construction. Excellent kit for a quick wipedown at the range!

Breakfree ,CLP / Hoppes Lead and copper cleaner or Spray can of Brake cleaner.

I used to clean more thoroughly, but I have started to believe that all you need for a chrome-lined bore is a Hoppes Boresnake. It gets it shiny.

I use the Otis kit.
Includes a metal rod for cleaning inside the chamber, with T-handle. |

A shot of Rem Oil and run the bore snake in it and you are done

There are a half dozen Hoppe's BoreSnakes of different sizes in my cleaning kit.

I like and use Boresnakes as well, BUT......................................
They will never clean as good as a rod, brushes, solvent will. Your bright shiney bore that you just cleaned with the boresnake will kick out tons of black crud if you hit it with a brush and rod. Soooooooo your shiney bore really is not clean at all. |

I use just the standard .22 boresnake from walmart.
If the the bore is really gritty I spray some Rem oil on the brislted section in front of the main patch length. |
