Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Touch up parkerized barrel

I have a colt hbar barrel that has a few places where the barrel is shiny. Like the parkerizing is thin or nonexistant. Does anyone see a problem with me using Bronwells 44/40 cold blue to protect those areas. I know the color would not match but that is not important to me.I am more interested in protecting the metal from rust. Thanks in advance.

I would just apply some CLP to the whole barrel every so often. Shiny looks better than mismatched, in my opinion.

Cold blue might not match. Wear is inevitable, you can have it reparkerized.

I use Birchwood Casey Perma Blue to touch up my Colt M4 parkerized barrel. Makes it look as good as new.
