The is a slight gap, and a little movement between the upper and lower reciver of my ar-15, Will this affect the rifle in any harmful manner? Also what is the best way to tighten them up?
Greatful for any help

Get an accuwedge or you can make one out of a pencil eraser. Place it under the stud that the rear take down pin goes through.

Are you talking about the gap between the upper and the lower or a loose fit??

(ie. daylight through upper and lower connection or wiggling when assembled.)

If daylight,   how much??  A little bit is fairly normal.

As for a loose connection between upper and lower recievers...I'm afraid you need an accuwedge.

My AR15 has a slight (less than 1/32") gap between the upper and lower, but it doesn't rattle (the front and rear pins hold it steady).  From what I understand, even if the upper to lower fit is slighty loose, accuracy won't be affected much, as long as you line up your sight picture correctly.

The accuwedge works to take the play out, but not for good. They eventually stretch and do not really take up too much space after a while.

I would just leave it go. a slight gap will not cause any problems.

the funny ting about an ar is that you can have a sloppy fit between the upper and lower and have a 1/2 moa rifle. Where a m1a needs  a bedded fit.
