I have some used 30 RD mags, Orlites, that I would like to clean up.  Do I just wash the springs in soap and water and dry them off?  Do I need to oil or lube any thing in the mag?

So with aluminum and steel mags need to oil the springs?

You dont need to (oil the spring) but I use a coat of fp-10 on the spring and inside the mag body. I dont have to worry about sand and as far as dust i keep the mags in a 50 cal can. I use the english 30 rounders to me there just a better mag.

I have seen rusty springs before....what do I do to prevent this?  Just wondering, because I would want to keep a set for a long period of time sitting.

Is there a problem with leaving mags loaded for an extended period of time? i thought I read somewhere it's better to leave them loaded than to load and unload, and that some magazines have gone several years being loaded and still function 100%?
