When installing the bolt after cleaning, does it matter which way the extractor is situated? The first time I cleaned it I didn't note the position and it can be rotated . In other words, does it go back in so that the extractor is on the left, or right side looking down the barrel? I looked at the manual but it doesn't show the position or Maybe I can't read!!!

Yes the extractor needs to be closest to the ejection port. It grabs shells and flings them out  so it needs to be on the right side of the gun(the side the ejection port is on) or it will jam.

Are there cool pictures that have arrows pointing to the "ejector" and the "extractor" and other sundry parts that  will enlighten new AR owners? Schematics? How-tos?

F4D,

The Cam pin Hole in the bolt, is actually tapered on 95% of the AR's so that the Cam pin cannot be inserted unless the extractor side of the bolt is in proper position.

If you can get the Cam pin into both sides of the hole in the bolt, get another bolt.
The thing ain't right, or is an antique.
