I have a Bushmaster Varminter with a free float tube fore-end.Does the tube un-screw or do I need a tool to take it off?

I don't know.  But they look and feel cool as hell, don't they?

(that was helpfull)

You might Email BM (if somebody doesn't answer your question here).  Their customer support has been outstanding to me.

I use a Midlock oil-filter-remove-tool, some sort of a handlebar with a piece of woven material attached to it. I protect the tube with a piece of leather first. The handlebar has a 1/2" drivesocket to connect a torquewrench for proper torque. Just my $0.02
