When cleaning with clp, is it good enough to just squirt some on and let alone. Or do you need to wipe it down and then apply more for the protection phase. Thanks.

Wipe it down to get the residue, dirt, and other chemicals out then apply a thin coat for protection.

Wet a patch real good with clp then from the breech push it through to the muzzle with your cleaning rod.  Then run a dry patch thru.  Keep alternating between wet and dry till the dry one comes out clean.  Then you can lightly wet another patch and run it thru to put a light coat of clp.

edited to say: also wipe out the inside of the upper real good with a wet patch then a dry patch and the bolt also.  Then put a small amount of clp on a patch and lightly coat these areas too.  Also works for the outside areas, too.
