Wow, never seen that before! Maybe a wooden dowl in the mag well and pry the bolt back?

I would try to mortar it. but not hard. I have never liked that method. I would take the wooden dowel but hit the bolt face from the ejection port.

Bolt-over-base malfunction. Use a tool of some type to push back on the front edge of the BCG as far as you can, while pushing the charging handle forward. This should create enough room for the round to drop free.

Middle finger up through the mag well against the face of the bolt, push back on the bolt with your finger, while you are pulling back on the charging handle.
If you just try to mortar the rifle like a normal round clearing, the round is going to try to come back with the bolt and just wedge worse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS4ACf5-8N8 |

Yup, base over bolt = DO NOT MORTAR. Push bolt back with finger or tool while pushing CH forward. Mortaring will just pinch the round more between the CH and bcg.
This is usually a mag related issue IIRC but don't remember as it is not a common failure. |

Well, wish I'd read the part about mortaring making it worse, b/c it did. I took off work and got it to the outdoor range and with some help, base over bolt with some HARD banging got her loose, finally. Thanks, guys!

Slamming the butt of the gun on the ground is a horrible idea. That is how 90% of our buttstocks break. The idea is that the inertia of the bolt carrier will keep it moving back when the gun inpacts the ground, and drop the jammed round. Do what the other guys said and use something to push the bolt to the rear and keep the charging handle forward.

You generally don't have to slam the rifle or use much force to accomplish your goal and mortaring is not a horrible idea if performed smartly and in the right situation. This was not the right situation and as the OP stated it made the problem worse. |
