16" middy with a new BCM extractor spring upgrade is slightly denting cases?  I am guessing that the new spring is too much?

Your cases are probably getting dented by the brass deflector when they are ejecting. I'd leave the extractor spring alone and cushion the brass deflector with a small piece of rubber. Some people use the loop side of a piece of velcro to pad the deflector.

Then again, if the dents aren't too bad, don't do anything. Often sizing them will iron out the dents.
