just got my ar put together, i was shooting and the shells wouldnt go off, just nick the primer... i  figured they were duds, but i put one back in and it went off and it made a bigger mark in the primer... whats the deal here? the ammo is wolf, the gun is brand new i just put it together with all new parts, does something need adjusted or what, it only does it to maby 3 out of a mag of 30

Improper hammer spring installation
improper firing pin protrusion
bent firing pin

Yep pictures would really help.

Pic of one of the struck but not fired primers if possible.

Pic of the inside of the lower receiver showing as much detail of the fire control group as possible.

Pic of the bolt carrirer group.

Pic of the firing pin.

If you can get those together we'll be better able to see what looks whacky.

OK so the pics of the fire control group are not easy to see.  I suspect you hammer spring is not installed properly causing a weak hammer hit.  But I can't tell in the pics.

Does it look like this?



Well at least the hammer part.  Does your spring sit lilke that or is in angled down.

Does your camera have a macro function?  
The symbol usually looks like a flower in a pot.
