Hi!
Have installed the GSR-35 on my 10.5" with a 9" LW-FF using a Vltor low profile gas block. Checked the gas port size it is approx. 0.093" Depending on what kind of ammo I use, I think it is short-stroking. When I shoot Fed Gold Medal or American Eagle it cycles fine, with Seller & Bellot (SB) the Bolt does not stay open after the last round. You can feel the difference in the gas pressure when the round is fired. It cycles slower. Did not have any issues with ammo before the conversion using DI. Stock is complete LMT SOPMOD (Buffer and Spring). I am not having any issues with the Ares BC banging the Buffer tube sofar 
Would appreciate some helpful suggestions. Thanks was wondering the kit that is being offered from Bushmaster includes a clamp I guess it is for stabilizing the piston system would there be any benefit of trying something like this? |

The S&B ammo may be a little too underpowded for the unit, but do check for leaking at the spigot to FSB. Also check the upper bushing and rod to make sure that there is no binding on rod travel during the stoke.

I also believe that the S&B is probably a little bit to light power wise.
Checked the spigot, it is sealing the way it is supposed too. No gas leaking. The upper bushing and the guide rod are also A-okay. No binding, moves very smoothly. Have also been considering a lighter buffer or maybe trimming a buffer spring. You guys think that might be a good idea? Thanks for the assist! |

Clipping the recoil spring may result in charging problems during a hand cycle charge (round may not fully charge), so if you just must run the the ammo, go the other way on the math and lighten the buffer (B/C and buffer mass + recoil spring tension + port size/gas dwell are the equation for the stroke control) .

OK clipping the spring did not really appeal to me is there a fixed minimum weight that I should not go under? is there a list or table of how much which buffer weighs? (std, H, H2, H3 etc) Thanks for the heads up

No luck with the lighter buffer
running the ARES on my SBR would have been nice, but the world will not end as I know it if it does not work out do you think it might work out with a longer barrel? 14.5" using the S&B ammo Having a little bit more barrel after the gas port will help with the "dwell time"? I understand that it was initial conceived for the M855 round, S&B is less expensive for just busting caps. For SHTF I use the hot stuff. |

What barrel length ares model do you have? They had them listed for different lengths initially.

Try calling Bushmaster - they bought the rights to the Ares kit IIRC.

tried a longer barrel today (14 1/2")
worked better this time , but still not the breakthrough that I was hoping for cycles the way it should, but it still does not stay open after the last round no issues with full power ammo maybe I am seeing problems were there not any |
