I've just finished putting another AR together and when the bolt is pulled back, the release.catch has a rough/gritty feel to it, rather than a smooth crisp break when the bolt is releasd. - What can cause this? It moves freely when upper is taken off, and there isn't any pressure on it.

Yeah, with the upper open, it moves freely, but once buttoned up, it's got a drag feel to it. - way more than what I think the anodizing would cause. - It's sort of like it's got play in it, and it's binding.

Dano's right, it's just a new finish.  It wears off after a while.
