I believe I've got a sealing problem between a barrel and its gas block.
Its a 16" heavy barrel, and the gas block is one of those 4-rail types that clamps around the barrel, using two screws to tighten a split on the underside.
I've painted the barrel with Aluma-hide, and there are abrasions along the top of the barrel in front of and behind the gas block.
Upon removal of the gas block from the barrel, I've found some carbon deposits corresponding with the areas where the barrels finish has been scuffed.
My question is, how do you seal this area up? Would a different style of gas block be better? The OD of the barrel in the area the gas tube rides is a consistent .934". Should the block need to be forced onto its seating area before using fastenters, or what?
FWIW, the rifle has the correct buffer and spring for the extension, the gas key is staked and tight, and the gas rings are good.
