I am shooting a new upper and have noticed that I am getting a lot of carbon build up on the trigger group. Does anyone know what would cause this?

the gas tube spraying carbon back into the gun to cycle the action

it's normal.

Ding dong!  Thanks, it just seems a lot more than my other upper - and that was only after about 60 rounds.

You're probably breaking in the upper, and some of the chaffing got off.
