Through firing, I am getting marks around the outside edge of my recoil buffer’s face. The marks are apparently there because contact is being made between the buffer face and the buffer retainer. What you see in the pictures is the result of 170 rounds through the weapon. I should note that my concern stems from the fact that I have another AR-15, which through firing, does not leave marks on the buffer face. Now the marks that I’m concerned about are not deep, and do not affect function, but they are there. Look at the last picture. When I bring the upper and lower together, while the front pivot pin is engaged, this is where contact begins between the rear of the bolt carrier and the buffer. Seems normal, so why the marks? If I feel the rear of the bolt carrier, there don't seem to be any burrs or rough areas. The barrel extension looks to be in the right place in the upper receiver and the rear of the carrier is exactly flush with the rear of the upper. Does it look like the marks are a little high above the buffer retainer to you, so that maybe they are being caused by the bolt carrier?

High edge or bur at the back of the carrier where the notch is cut out to pass the buffer retainer?

That would be my guess. Just take a fine to x-fine stone and smooth it over a bit.

Looks like normal wear and tear to me from the bolt. (Don't have it in my hands to inspect). Every else appears normal. Does the rifle function correctly with no problems? Just this cosmetic on the buffer? If so no worries. [sinper2]
