I have a 11.5" upper I cobbled together from EE parts, and it runs great but I notice after 100 rounds or so there is alot of carbon buildup around the FSB, on both "rings" of the base and barrel. I didn't install the FSB, it came on the barrel btw.

I guess this is leaking because none of my other AR's have ever done this, is it something to get worked up about considering the gun runs? Never came across this so I'm unsure how normal it is or how to fix it if it's problematic or a warning sign.

TIA

When you put it together did you use a new roll pin for the gas tube?  Puting in a used or worn pin will cause carbon build up from the front sight base.  Try it with a new pin and this is also the cause for some cycling problems.

That might just be it....I lost the new pin putting it together and used an old pin.

I'll try a new one and see what that does. Thanks.
