How much play between the receivers is too much? What can be done to keep this new slop to a min?  O ring on the front takedown? Foam ear plug wedged somewhere? Anything else?

I just noticed some side to side slop on my 4 month old (1800 rnds) bushmaster.

You can never have enough slop. The slop makes it more accurate.
