If you are talking about a small portion on the barrel side of the cut out that is on the rounded part of the upper the carrier moves back and forth in it does happen on some uppers but not all. I have seen it said it was the front edge of the carrier rail on that side doing it were the rounds in the mag push the carrier up as it goes forward.
If you are talking about down a little inside the cam pin cut out where it looks like it may be cutting a narrow notch on the back side of the cut out it happens but mostly for me only on shorter barrels.
