I've got a YHM Phantom flash hider with the solid section that goes down. Every time I screw it on the section goes to the top. What a I doing wrong here?

Are you using a crush washer, lock washer or peel washer?

Mike

ETA - most use a "crush-washer" and it's tighten, loosen, re-tighten, loosen re-tighten type installation, until the bottom is centered on the bottom.

The flash hider threads are 28 TPI, 0.0357 inches. If the FH is not indexing by 180 degrees that means it is off by 1/2 of 28 TPI or 1/2 of 0.0357. Take 0.0175 off of the rear of the FH with a lathe and it will now index correctly. The 0.0002 or 0.0003 difference will allow for 'crush'. Charles the Gunsmith.
