I noticed something similar with a new LMT upper and carrier I have.  The inside of the upper where the key makes contact with the upper is a bit rough.  You can feel it when you manually cycle the bolt as a mild grinding and it does not feed as strongly as some other uppers I have used.  I am hoping it will fade with use since the upper and carrier are both new.

Could it be a key with a leak? Ive seen similar trouble when switching a carrier from a carbine to a rifle...
ETA: Worked OK in the carbine but not so good when used in a rifle...
