Got a problem.  When cocking or shooting, the buffer overides the buffer detente spring and rests against the bolt. The detente pin and spring come out of their hole and drop into the lower. A couple of detente springs got ruined this way. Have tried several buffers, buffer springs, and stocks with no difference. Evidently the bolt hits the buffer when cocking or shooting. Any help?

Your buffer tube isnt screwed in properly.  Is it a standard A2 stock or CAR type?  If A2 remove the stock screws in the buttplate and pull the stock off, be careful to keep it pointed down so you dont lose the takedown pin detent spring.   Pull the stock off and you can screw the tube in enough that it holds the retainer in place, then reassemble.

Re-explain?  The carrier rides against the buffer, not the bolt.  You can remove the buffer detent and spring, assemble the upper and lower halves going straight back, and the rifle will work.  The buffer detent and spring are only there to hold the buffer back when you pull the takedown pin and split the receivers (pivot pin in).  Some aftermarket buttstocks are notorious for the receiver extension needing fitting (dremel, filing) to work with the detent properly.  I have also seen some of the detent holes wear out from out of spec wear problems.

I just re-read your post.  The buffer should never touch the detent when the two halves are closed.  The carrier pushes back against the buffer just enough when the two halves are closed so that there is always a little clearance from the detent.  If that sucker keeps coming out of its hole, you surly have an extension problem or the hole is egged out.  If it is unrepairable, just leave it out and separate the two halves by removing both pins at the same time, it should work fine.
