Ok, my newly built AR doesnt seem to shuck the shells too far...just a few inches clear of the port.  And im a lefty shooter, so sometimes i get a hot casing in the crook of my right elbow (OUCH!!!)

Anyway, its an MMS upper, RRA bolt and bolt carrier.

what to do????  how do i get those shells out and away from me???

Add to Tweaks check list,
check the extractor claws ends to make sure that they don't have a wicked end bur that may be grabbing/retaining the case as it is being pivoted off the bolt face.
