The threads in my lower where the grip screw mounts is stripped?? Can i simply re tap it?

I'd say it depends on how bad (?)

you could run a tap down it and see what you get.

might try a slighly longer bolt....did it strip all the threads....

looks like only the 1st & 2nd threads are stripped.

Do u know what thread size it is? 1/4-28?

Try "chasing" (cleaning up) the threads by running a 1/4-28 tap in from the top of the hole rather than from the bottom.  Coming in from the bottom, you tap may not engage properly and you could ruin ALL the threads.
