Can I stamp a carbine buffer for h2 with my letter set?  Or is the metal too soft?

I use various number of dots with a centerpunch.

That way it's in a code only I can understand and anyone stealing my buffers will explode.

Also I owned an automatic centerpunch.

I started weighing mine and stamping the weight right on the face of the buffer.  That way I know what I have at a glance.

I sharpied one of mine, just did it so no idea if it will hold up.

If you stamp them, do it in the center, on the end where it engages the bolt.
If you do on the side, you run the risk of collapsing the tube where the weights have to slide back & forth.

Engraving it would not do this.
Sharpie will not do this, but will go by-by if it sees the wrong solvent.

Me too.  I've seen others use paint pencils.

Dremel engraving is an option too.

They could simply weigh them. Although I have to think anyone who would steal your buffers would be busier shoving them up their ***.
