Asking here because the archives are down.  Never has this be an issue before, but is it normal to hear a metal ring noise when the bolt carrier comes forward and stops at the barrel extension.  Looks like its hitting the barrel extension and thats where the noise is coming from.   Should the carrier come that far forward or should there be a miniscule gap so the carrier and extension don't hit?  Hoping I dont have a headspace alignment issue or anything, although it IS a used barrel and carrier.  Thing shoots fine, but I don't want to be causing wear or a part that shouldn't be wore that way.  Thanks!

The front of the carrier stops against the rear face of the barrel extension.

Carrier to barrel extension is hard contact.
It's quieter when stripping/loading a round.

Check the gas tube to gas key alignment, but that twang is usually when the BCG is leaving battery.

I am using a usgi three prong hider.  Never knew that had any bearing on the sound the bolt carrier made when it came forward.  Good to know!  Lol.

Exactly this.  When chambering a round it goes away.

I would have to read a 1000 posts on this site before coming across a gem like this one. Best post I read all day.

I don't know if that's a large frame, but that's what can happen when you use a DPMS LR-308 BCG in a Armalite AR-10 barrel extension.

It's an M4. Originally posted here by Henderson Defense, rental business in Vegas (Battlefield Vegas).

I'd link the thread , but archives are down.
