Looking for a new stripped lower, looking for something forged that either doesn't have a logo or is something different.
I'd love a seekins forged but I can't find one. I'm not interested in Aero, the last one I bought had issues, I've had a couple Spikes and while they're great, I want something else. Upper will be a BCM 16" with FSB. |

Aero Makes spikes...
what was wrong with your aero lower? something different? Mega Nodak Spud |
|
Alexandria pro-fab from aim surplus.
I don't have one, but I haven't read anything negative about them. You can probably find a no-logo spike's lower on gunbroker. |

MEGA!
Its kinda like MAGA! But for reals, their lowers are really nice. |

SanTan Tactical, anyone?
Give them a look. Very nice, and you can order them sans logo. |

Why didn't you talk to Aero? View Quote Never said they wouldn't fix it, I'm sure they would have replaced it without question. It definitely didn't go together like my other spikes lowers - trigger pins were extremely tight too. My LPK was a BCM enhanced so I don't think that was the issue. Regardless, not picking up another Aero. |
|
I think this was stated, but I thought Aero is the OEM for Spikes Tactical.

those range tool ones looks pretty nice. how would they compare to say "Aero" or "PSA" stripped lowers in terms of quality? Never heard of them before

Im very happy with the looks of my Vorn lower. It's something different.
Haven't shot it yet but it went together fine. It is forged, no logo and less weight as a bonus. Lima 2 |

Splunkinoob.
I had help with my first lower build recently, we used an AERO lower with an LWRCI LPK . This one below. Good learning experience. We had to clean up the trigger guard some with a Dremel and a couple of the pins I was told were pretty tight but it turned out pretty good and locks up tight with an LWRC Upper. Was able to get a couple mags through it the other day and it ran good. Did you have any issues with your trigger guard install with those BCM LPK ? https://www.lwrci.com/p-456-deluxe-lower-parts-kit.aspx |

Some people spend way to much thinking and not enough time doing...

I just bought an Alexandria Pro Fab lower from Aim last week.
Looks good, went together fine. I like the no rollmark look. |
|
I have a Range Tool lower and love it. Very solid, easy build and no issues. I really like the no-rollmark look.

Wouldn't Spike's get the raw forgings? It sounded like OPs problem was later in the manufacturing process. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

get a Mega forged lower with the tensioning screw to remove slop between upper and lower.
|
|
Dsg arms have Mega forged lowers on sale for 85.00. That's a great price for a great lower.

I just bought a Noreen U/L set. The billet lower was $39.95 at Brownells and the uppers from AIM @ $49.95. The overall U/L fit and finish is exceptional! Lower receiver markings are quite muted but there. Note that there is no Forward Assist on the upper. I will build a 6.5 Grendel!
|
|
I have 3 upper/lower sets from Noreen, they are nice sets, but be aware they are 6061 and not 7075. Some people don't like the 6061 sets.
|
|
I agree, yet I have read pros and cons, but for shooting at the range I feel they are fine and I prefer the feel/weight.
I wonder why billets are typically made from 6061? |

No logo. Simple. |
|
Nothing wrong with a 6061 billet set for most people's uses.

|
Hundreds of thousands of the first M16's that went to Vietnam were 6061 and they worked fine, the reason the Military changed the specification on the M16 was not due to it being soft. It was a corrosion issue that came up in the wet environment in which war was being fought. 7075 handled the wet/hot environment much better than the 6061.

A lower is a lower is a lower. Pick one from a good known company with e graving you like.
Aero, Mega, Spikes, Knetic, Anderson, PSA and others mentioned all are GTG. |
|
I believe a key to a good lower is the U/L fit but mainly the accuracy in the machining and placement of the holes etc.
A few years back, Shotgun News ran an evaluation (AR15 Lower Shootout) on ten lower brands a couple years ago. If I recall properly, CMMG and the Anderson were rated highly. If you want a copy, shoot me your e-mail and I'll send you the PDF. |

dang, like DANG that's a good deal... I know you can't tell who the mfger is that makes them for the differing companies, but it says it will be from a 14 brand "pool"... do you mind listing the brands so I can get a grasp on if I've had experience with them before? If they're solid I'd be in for 5 of them (you can't have enough lowers) View Quote |
