My build so far: 80% lower, Aero upper and rail, Magpul stock. This is my medium priced build, just something to get me through this winter. Since I'm using a 15" rail I'm thinking of a Faxton 16" Gunner (M4). I don't think it's chrome lined, not sure if that really matters on this build. If you can think of a better option let me know. I'd like to keep the price around $150ish. I'm still researching other profiles, etc.

The Faxon gunner would be a solid choice.

FAXON makes a great barrel for not a whole lot of money. The "Gunner profile" is a nice lightweight option. The Brownell's Btac line I've used several of performed quite well too.
I don't know about Faxton though

I haven't got the profile nailed down yet. This build has changed identity sever times now and I'm anxious to move on.

I rebarreled my 16" carbine with 13" rails to a Faxon GUNNER 18" barrel just about a month ago. I love it! The light weight is great!!! It is nitrided inside and out with a beautiful finish. Nitrided steel is harder than chrome lined. The barrel shoots tight groups and the rifle gas is really sweet on the 18". I killed a medium sized buck whitetail with it last Tuesday. One shot and the deer was dead in about 5 seconds literally. You can't go wrong with it.

You will be pleased with Faxon's barrels.
I'm taking my 18" rifle-gas out next week to do some comparing against a CLE 18" barreled rifle. |
