Hello All -

Anyone know who has bolt carriers in stock at the moment?

I know just about anything AR related is back ordered but the only piece I'm missing for my build is a bolt carrier...

Good luck finding one in stock.

Yeah -

I wouldn't have posted here otherwise.

I've had some good luck here and other places in the past asking around for a lesser-known distributor that may have a few on the shelves.

On Wednesday they didn't seem to be as hard to find.  Shoulda bought then.  People must've been getting ready for the Mayan and Assault Weapon apocalypses.

Never mind. They are sold-out of every BCG they have.

I went ahead and took a huge chance on the Rguns models.  Ordered 2 each enough parts to build two complete bolt carrier groups.    We'll see if they come through.  I don't even care if it takes a few months.

The scary part for me is that place has awful reviews.  Not so much for quality but for bad service.

If anyone is still looking for a BCG, sportsman guide has them. I ordered one a few months ago and it is the rguns model. I haven't had any problems with mine so far.

Look around the internet and you can usually find a coupon for $20 off as well.

I'm not trying to rub anything in but here's a little BCG porn for you. I started buying BCG's last year on  a hunch that we would get a repeat of 2008 and a run on buying AR's would happen.

I have accumulated a few here and there. And I have the following -

3- NIB Black Rain Ordinances

2- Spikes Tacticals

2- CMT's

And 3- BCM's

I haven't ordered from rguns before but from what I read on their website today the $100 cancellation fee is if YOU can cancel the order. If you let it stand and wait for the item to ship, if item is out of stock then all is well. You just end up waiting for availability. The complete bcg's were sold out earlier but individual parts weren't listed as out of stock when I last looked. I don't know how the rguns parts compare to LMT, BCM and others other than their websites states they meet milspec so I didn't order anything.

I personally wouldn't buy anything from Rguns. Have had god luck with Fulton Armory, but most of their stuff is marked up DPMS parts. I won't use DPMS carriers or bolts, they are made really crappy, porr fit & finish. I have used other DPMS small parts and some stripped uppers though with no issues

Many 308 ARs from custom builders use the DPMS bolt/carrier. I've had no issues with my two.

This brings up a question I have had.... Apparently there is a difference between 5.56 and 223 bolt carriers? or just the bolt? or does it even matter?

From what I've read, there's no difference. Maybe an expert could better explain. I ordered a BCG from Delta3Tactical. It showed in stock, I e-mailed them and they told me it was a 30-60 day wait on the BCG. Wasn't their faul, just waiting from them to cancel that order.

Yep, they told me the same thing so I guess I'll just wait it out. They said they have numerous orders placed with several manufacturers and distributors and it could be anywhere from a few days up to 6-8 weeks. Kudos to Delta 3 though. They were sending me personalized emails and answering questions even on Christmas day.

No difference between .232 & 5.56 Bolts or carriers, though materials and QC procedures vary between manufacturers.

The bolt is the most important, preferably made of Carpenter 158 steel and MPI/HPT.  There are a lot of cheaper 8620 bolts out there right now which will work, but doesn't save you much money so might as well get the better one.  Auto(M16) & Semiauto carriers both work but I prefer Auto; Make sure your carrier key is properly staked.

I too only need a bcg to complete my first build, I really want a Spikes Tactical but have been hearing a lot of good about the failzero's. They do not say out of stock on their website (does anyone know if that's the case?), should I get the FZ or wait and hope I can get a Spikes at a reasonable price somewhere in the not too distant future?

BTW, First post, have been reading a lot, great info, thanks.

I'm just hoping that since they're so hell bent on this new AWB. They won't ban the rifle all together. If they do, then no more parts and I'll have a complete lower and upper minus a BCG.... ( off topic ) sorry. The price gouging is ridiculous BTW

Yes the gouging that people are doing is crazy but the problem is people are paying the prices.  I wish more BCG's would come into the market so dealers would get some and then we could pay reasonable prices again.

I've bought stuff from them off and on for a number of years and always received great service and fast shipping. Usually, if an item is unavailable it doesn't even turn-up in a search so I'm hoping this holds true with the WMD's but with things as crazy as they are right now, who knows? They appear to be some very nice BCG's made of good materials and at a reasonable price. BTW, I crossed-referenced the SKU numbers to the WMD Guns website and both of the BCG's that Botach Tactical has right now are full-auto.

I have everything but a BCG for my first build.

I sat on BCM for weeks trying to score a BCG.  No Go.

I resorted to ordering a Spikes BCG from Delta3 that said in-stock a few weeks ago.  No response yet.  I've read the reviews since then.  I'll be patient.

I ordered a Daniel Defense BCG from Midway USA last week, was expected in Dec. 31st.  We'll see.

I am a buyer's club member at The Sportsman's Guide, but I was reluctant to buy a no-name BCG.  I gained some info from this thread that they are from RGuns.  I just hope they eventually ship my two cases of ammo!

I'm kind of holding my breath too. I've never had any problems with Botach in the past but things weren't crazy like they are now. Less than two weeks ago I placed an order with them for 12 Magpul 30-round PMAG's for $12.30 each and had them in my hands within a week but now they appear to be sold-out since Magpul PMAG doesn't even return a hit when you search their site. It still shows-up in my "Recently Viewed" items at the bottom of the page but when I click on the link it takes me to a page that shows and describes the mags but there isn't any way to buy them or place them in the shopping cart. I'm seeing some scathing remarks on their FB page which doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. I guess with things the way they are right now all bets are off. I saw a 550 round brick of CCI LR .22's in a gun shop today for .................... $72  and there were open discussions about people paying anywhere from $700 - $1,000 for a case of .223 if that gives you any idea just how nuts things are. I was in a mid-sized local gun shop the Monday following Newtown and they had sold 84 AR's in just that one day. Multiply that by all the gun shops across America over the past two weeks and you can get some idea about how and why inventory dried-up so quickly. Plus it was all compounded by the holidays with businesses closing. It'll take a little while for the supply chain to rebound but in 30-60 days I think things will be semi-normal again.

I also got an email conformation for the order but that doesn't mean a lot. Botach is closed on Sat. and Sun. and with Mon. and Tue. being a holiday for most business, I doubt I'll hear anything else from them until the end of next week but my credit card is already showing a pending transaction for the amount of two BCG's with hammers so I guess that's a good sign. WMD isn't really a brand. They use parts from other manufacturers and then apply the nickle boron coating. From the material descriptions they give on their site (www.wmdguns.com) I can only assume they are using one of the better BCG's. The Bolt is made from Carpenter 158 and case hardened, shot peened and magnetic particle inspected. Their home site shows that they are out of stock until mid-Jan. so I'm hoping that Botach has inventory on hand. I cross-referenced the SKU numbers from Botach to WMD and the two BGC's they have right now are both full-auto, so that's a plus.

I know this isn't the proper place to ask but I'm wondering what the main difference between staked gas keys and non-staked are.

Does the stake mean that those allen bolts have been locked from backing out or loosening up?

Any info is appreciated.
