I'm in the market for another upper. I've got a RRA 20" varminter that's just getting too heavy to lug around after a couple of stands. (And the fact that I'm gettin old.)

Figure I'd get a 16" fluted barrel flat top with a free float 4 rail system. Is there such a thing as a medium contour fluted barrel or are they all h-bar or heavy barrelled?

Secondly, I'm shooting 50 or 55 grain pills so is the 1 in 9 twist the best application? Can i use a 1 in 8 and still get accuracy out to 200+ yards?

Lastly, where are you guys buying your complete uppers at? Best price quote i've gotten is $625. That's with a low profile gas block, no sights, and a YHM rail system.

Thanks Guys.

You and me both!

Why the need for fluting? Why not just a lightweight barrel? There are some very accurate and short barrels out there that would with your needs, but I know of no factory fluted medium weight complete uppers. Also why do you need four rails? You will probably just cover them up with rail covers. Have you considered a modular handguard?

You shot them in 1 in 9, 1 in 8, or 1 in 7. There isn't really any "stabilization" problems.

Bravo company machine should have what you want for less, or you could look at buying everything you want at PKfirearms and they will assemble it for you. Thats what I plan to do, and they quoted me $55o with a BCG.
Thanks Guys.
