Will a mil spec reciever extention work with my commercial end plate, lock nut, buffer, and spring?

Inside dimensions and threads are basically the same.  The OUTSIDE diameter is different, and commercial tubes tend to be "variable" in this dimension, so commercial stocks can be loose or really tight.
