This will be the first time I've reloaded, so I need help on what equipment I need. What manufacturers make good affordable equipment? I am planning on ordering some books to read up on the topic, but any advice and tips would be much appreciated.

The 6.8 FAQ is in the variants forum.  There is also a reloading forum.

I think that the mods should move your thread to the reloading forum so you can get more traction.

Get the RCBS Rockchucker Kit, it should be around $300, not the $700 one.  It includes just about everything you need, including a reloading book.  Get the 6.8 Die set and components, and you're good to go.  Check 68forum.com for a pdf of recipes.
