There are better and more available options for the upper than Bushmaster. Site sponsors like Bravo Company have top notch upper receiver assemblies available every few weeks. Sign up for their email notifications. You'll also need to buy handguards, a charging handle, and a bolt carrier group if you go that route, but it is the one I would recommend above all others, both from a quality and a price standpoint.
The quality of the lower is important, but Stag makes a pretty good one. |

Spike's Tactical has a great deal on stripped lowers –– $100. Till the end of July, so you'd better hurry. Check out the "Old EE" button at the top of the page. I've never used Spike's, but bought some after my gunsmith said they are top-shelf items.

picked mine up last week.......impressed with the fit and finish compared to my DPMS lower. I would say its comparable or exceeding in quality to my S&W lower.

Coleman Tyler has Mega lowers for $108 and Rock River fot $145...thats whats out for delivery for me today the RRA very excited.
I'll have two RRA AR's, a RRA Tactical Entry and the new first build RRA. http://www.colemantyler.com/ And i Bought some stuff from Brownells...and PK Firearms. PK Firearms actaully has a lot of complete Uppers in stock. I ordered a RRA Predator Pursuit 20 inch on Tuesday and it is scheduled to deliver this Friday... They don't screw around and ship In Stock stuff fast...I also orederd my lower parts kit from them. http://www.pkfirearms.com/ Lots of help on here so ask lots of questions...they are real nice to us noobs! 
I would say if ya have a pretty good idea what weapon you want to have...go ahead and get the lower, then start collecting lower parts and build that up then concentrate on the upper. |

Ok so im pretty set on getting a complete lower receiver, i dont wanna deal with all those other parts so the only question is the brand.
im thinking of getting the stag, but does anyone have any different suggestions. I have no idea about what upper to get. i would like to have it a complete aswell because i dont wanna deal with all the other parts. so can anyone recommend me a quality upper. |

ok so i can use some more oppinions because there are so many choices, should i go with a rra upper with a stag lower or a BCM on the stag or some other upper. Basicly i want to know what the differences are between uppers cause there are alot of brands.
also if i get a stripped lower what other parts will i need. and sorry for asking similar questions but i wanna make sure i spend wisely because its a good sum of money. |

I bought a stag lower and a dpms upper and they went together perfectly. I bought them both stripped. However, I don't know that I can tell you that you will save a lot of money by doing it this way. Granted I bought my upper and lower stripped and went from there, but I didn't even by an overly expensive barrel and with the red dot sight and a higher end trigger I am almost to $2,000. It turns out that there are a lot of cool add ons to these guns and by parting them together you can easily spend more money. I have seen complete guns on the shelf at a local dealer for $1,000. The moral to the story is that If you aren't going to individually part it together, you might as well buy a complete gun. IMHO

you'll like a noveske upper receiver. CMMG is good value as well as SunDevil and BravoCompany. Look for upper that has good barrels, good BCG's. Then build a lower from same product line.

I'm just thinking. I saw this Black Rain Ordnance upper and lower and looks cool. What could a Noveske, Kreiger or Walter barrel put into this Black Rain upper with YM or BravoCompany BCG and DD rails. Then the Black Rain Ordnance lower with Geissele trigger then finish it of with Magpul goodies. Hmmpp!!! This could be my new build!!! What do you think?

For the money, Stag is a winner! So does BCM, CMMG as well. But to say DPMS is great!?? I'm pretty sure there are much further greater deals out there. Will DPMS be less accurate maybe not.

Hey Brian I am Brian too, and from nj too, I am fearfull to answer this as I am new to this AR thing myself but when you get your LPK LOWER PARTS KIT it should have those pins in the kit to fit the upper to the lower.
Guys if I am wrong please set me strait. Brian Hey I am building my first AR now too. THIS IS KIND OF CREEPY Both have the same name Both are from NJ Both are building an AR Both are putting together there first AR Both are on this site getting help. If the OP is in NJ, shouldn't he avoid the Stag stock set and just get a fixed stock or pre-pinned adjustable stock to stay ban compliant?
I thought NJ didn't allow telestocks because they made the weapon length too short? |

Do you already have a buffer/tube/spring for your lower? If so, then you don't need the kit - just have to make sure you get the correct stock for your existing tube (commercial or mil-spec). If you don't, then get the complete kit as the tube included will provide a very snug fit.
And don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is here to help each other. Nobody minds if the questions never stop as long as you learn from the answers you receive & enjoy your AR's to their fullest. =) |
