why wouldn't you just get the "entry" stock and save yourself the trouble?
The length of pull with the 1" recoil pad is 11.45". |

They do make a shorter stock, the Entry. I'm not sure what the overall length of the stocks are, but the Entry uses the same spring and buffer that is used on the collapsible stocks. Maybe someone else has the dimensions for each of them so you don't have to modify one.

I thought the spring and buffer for the rifle was different than the carbine... can I use the entry model with the rifle length spring/buffer?

The Entry can only be used with the carbine spring and buffer. Check the EE for them. I picked up a basically new Entry with spring and buffer shipped for $70.
