I'm getting ready to build my next AR.  Its going to be a SPR'ish build with probably a 1-8" twist 18-20" barrel that I want to be able to take varmint hunting, but its going to be more of a tactical build.  Anyways, the questions is I'm having a really hard time deciding on the stock.

I have always enjoyed the A2 stock, but would not mind dressing it up with something else.  I have owned a PRS before and liked it, but I think the adjustable cheek piece is useless and its pretty expensive.  I had a VLTOR A1 modstock (non clubfoot) and liked the feel, but my facial hair would get pulled out plus it was horrible to try to shoot off a bench with a bag under the stock.  Also, It might be nice to have a collapsible stock, but I want the solid feel of a fixed stock.

So with that being said, I was thinking about the VLTOR E-MOD stock and the Magpul UBR stock.

Pros for E-MOD would be the cheek weld, collapsibility, good company, and storage compartment, plus its an extra inch longer than most collapsible stocks.

Cons, I dont want it to be shaking around like most collapsible stocks, and I would like it to be sturdy.  Plus, it might still pull my facial hair.

Pros for the UBR would be the solid feel, good company and looks good.

Cons, price, its unknown to me as far as feel and weight, and availability would be an issue.

So what do you guys think, are there any pictures of the two on your rifles?

Please give me your opinion and experiences.

I'm going with a UBR.  Your right about them on the availability.  I ordered a few of them so I'll see how I like them.  They look slick.

I was trying to decide between the two also and I stumbled upon
www.militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.furniture.html#emod
which has a nice review of both (scroll up for the UBR review)... hope that helps.
....
or buy both, and build another rifle around the extra stock...

My EMOD was very solid.

Here I am shooting at 600 yards with it.

Oh I forgot to mention I have a LMT SOPMOD.  Very solid build and I like it.

I went from an Emod to a CTR to a UBR on my AR.  I really liked the Emod.  The cheek weld on it is much better than the CTR or UBR to me.  Although not as solid as the CTR with friction lock engaged, it is far from being too loose on the tube.

The UBR is heavier than the Emod and is solid as a rock.  On my mid-length it balances out the gun much better than the Emod did.  I don't shoot from a bench, but if I did I think the UBR would be a better choice for that.
