I built my own AR a couple years back but have only put about 1000 rounds through it all told, but anyway, I'm wondering what spare parts I need to keep around if something breaks.

Bolt carrier group? Spare firing pin? What are the parts that are going to break/need replacing over the life of the gun?

get a spare bolt group and a lower parts kit and you will be pretty much covered.

At a minimum, gas rings and cam pin. A spare bolt is good, especially if you can keep it with the weapon. A whole extra rifle is good for classes. A gas tube in the toolbox isn't a bad idea, etc. Probably a spare fire control group as well.
