Has anybody else had difficulty removing A2 front sight roll pins from DPMS barrels? I have had two barrels that I was attmepting to remove the roll pins from and I have had nothing but problems with both. I have had no issues with CMMG, LMT, or RRA, but DPMS are extremly difficult. Once they are FINALLY removed, they are not usable again, they are bent or too buggered up to use. Does anybody know, do they use a softer metal to make theirs or what gives?

I also noticed that when trying to move an A2 sight from a CMMG to a DPMS barrel, (don't ask why...long story) the roll pin holes do not line up exactly. I am assuming one is out of spec. Any help would be appreciated. It would be nice not to have to buy another gas block.

Roll pins or Taper Pins? FYI, they are supposed to be in there tight. I would be concerned with taper pins that just tap out. The front sight is not supposed to be removed on a regular basis and the taper pins or often pressed into place (which can be why they are so hard to remove). The easiest way I have found to remove them is using a 12 ton press. I don't mess up the finish using this method as opposed to with a pin punch and a BFH.
As for front sight towers being interchangable-they aren't supposed to be. When assembling the barrel, the towers have no holes in them. They are then reamed for the taper pins, so there is a possibility that interchanging sight assemblies isn't gonna happen unless your lucky.
