This was my first build, it was easier than I thought. I did launch a detent across the room, but I found it.

Looks good, what sort of upper will it be mated to?

Wanting to go with a RRA A4 with a 20" SS barrel, MI handguards, with a 1913 gas block.
But I am open to advice....

I'm just curious, why would you lay your new lower in the gravel?

What is it going to hurt?

I made this little tool to keep from launching detent across the room. Works very well

looks like you've got a good start there. you can buy a 1/4" clevis pin at home depot or something like that for less than a buck, it is the same principle as the previously mentioned tool. be sure to post pics when you get it all finished

Just for you saying that,  I went outside and smashed a kitten with the buttstock of my rifle.

Now fry that baby up in a wok and we'll have some Chinese food...

I wouldn't lay any of my firearms in the gravel...not even my POS Automag II. I guess I am the only one that is anal about my weapons. To each his own.

Lemme guess, that was the front pivot detent that flew, yeah they suck. I used a razor blade to hold the spring/detent flush with the receiver, and this allowed enough room for the pin to slide in.
