Does it work to shorten and rethread a chrome-lined barrel or will I have problems with it??

I have done it. I took a 20 inch down to a 14 1/2. Had to reloacte the gas port and the front sight.. I ran in to no troubles cutting it down.  Went slow took my time and all went well/

and yes it was for a SBR

I sould also add that if you cut down the barrel you might have to open the gas port up a little

No problem to shorten and thread a chrome lined barrel.
I did a couple of them this afternoon.

Thanks for the replies.  I had heard that there may be a problem with the chrome flaking off after it was crowned.  Thanks for clearing that up.
