Is it a special size or will my local Ace hardware have what I need? Putting a 5" reverse hider on a carbine.
Thanks.

It is a 1/2" lock washer. A regular one will fit, but if you can't find one in black it will look ugly. Also, the flash hider lock washer is about twice as thick as a regular lock washer, so there might be clearance problems. You would'nt want the flash hider to bottom out against the muzzle crown. I would suggest visiting one of the board sponsers or the EE for a correct washer.

Suggest using a crush washer instead.  More expensive but looks clean and allows you to easily clock the flash hider if you have the A2 type.

The 5 inch reverse flash hider covers the washer as it sleeves back over the barrel for a ways. so the look isn't important. I wish it was an A2 style but it is A1.
