I'm building my first AR and ran into a problem with the stock.  I ordered and received Bushmaster's M4 stock assembly directly from them for $99.  

The problem is the receiver end plate shipped with the stock doesn't fit over the buffer tube.    The buffer tube screws into my lower receiver just fine so I think the problem is that hole in the receiver end plate is not big enough.  

I called up Bushmaster and they shipped me a replacement receiver end plate.   But again, it still doesn't fit.  Exactly the same problem!   I called them again and they want to ship me one more receiver end plate.  This 3rd one will be here on Friday and I have a gut feeling this wont fit either.  

So has anyone else seen this problem?  

Since the buffer tube threads into the lower receiver just fine, I'm thinking the receiver end plate is out of spec.  OR the threads on the buffer tube need to be rounded.

I should also add that the difference is very slight.  If I take a Dremel to the receiver end plate and enlarge the hole, it should fit.  But I hate to do that and take off the black finish.

That's the first i have heard of that kind of problem.

You mentioned that the difference on the end plate is very slight .... so i am GUESSING that it may be the finishing on the end plate that "screwed" it up.

I hope the 3rd one is a "charm" for you and that it finally fits.

Eyespy, the receiver end plate was indeed screwed up.  The 3rd endplate I received from Bushmaster yesterday fit perfect!  I don't understand why BM would have in stock end plates which don't fit their stocks.  My only guess is that the ones that don't fit are for their older M4 stock.  The one I have is their new 6 position model.
