This sucker does not have a castle nut. It's an old A2 stock.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to wait until I get home and get to a vise so I can put the lower in and muscle the darn thing loose. |

I had the same problem, couldn't get my buffer tube off. I finally got it off by putting the nut on the end of the buffer tube into a vise and a piece of wood through the mag well, and cranked it off with a lot of force. Hope this helps out.

Plasma cutter or tannerite.
Heat it up a bit and it should unscrew easily enough. My guess would also be loctite.

propane torch, wont take much to get the loctite loose.

 jadams and any one else wondering, Rifle LREs are easy to remove if you clamp the wrench flats on the end of the tube into a bench vise. Trying to turn the tube with a wrench usually results in rounding the flats exaggerated by the difficulting in firmly securing the lower. Clamp the tube then turn the lower with the pistol grip. |

I noticed there was a squared off area where the stock screw threaded into the back end of the buffer tube. I took a 12" wrench on that squared off portion, held the lower between my legs with the grip as the way of keeping it from turning(too much anyways), and cranked that wrench down. Damn magpul stock went on very easy after that. |
