Anyone know how tight the barrel nut has to be when installing a Larue tactical handguard?
Hand tighten or to 30-50\inch\lbs?

30 ft-lbs minimum, and then tighten to align the next hole,
If you need to exceed 80lbs, you need to be careful so you don't break the receiver.

I make barrel nut indexing shims that greatly improve this task, allowing you to choose what torque value you want the nut to align at simply by adding shims.

Never heard of a barrel shim kit for the ar system,
I guess my three strokes down the lapping plate to true the barrel socket face is old school.
