I just finnished putting a RRA lower on my upper and noticed that it has a grey colored stock and I would like to have it closer to the color of the rifle. It was recomended that I just rub it down with CLP to darken it. Is that the best way and most cost effective to darken it? What other options do I have with the exception of buying another stock?

They are all ashy grey colored till you rub some CLP on it.
I thought something was wrong with mine too until I was told the above. |

How about switching it out with a Cav Arms C1 stock? They are REAL black.

Rub it down with clp first- a lot of times when the rifle parts are new they have that chalky look to them from being BONE DRY. If it still isn't dark enough for your taste you can clean it real well and apply some flat black Krylon, which is a nice $3 solution to the problem(?). I did this on some beat up A1 furniture and it turned out great!
