I'm undecided between an M4 profile barrel, and a standard 16" barrel.

What is the practical difference?  Other than the M4 profile looking a lot cooler, and perhaps being a little lighter, is there any difference I should consider?

I like 16" barrels.  That's the optimum length for efficiency.  Any shorter gives you less velocity, more flash and more noise.  Bushmaster's ultralight 16" barrel is as light as the M4 profile.

nope; both are essentially the same, just the m-4 is lighter(less metal s some was milled off) and the indention for the m203

With some of the metal milled off to give it that distinctive profile, is there any appreciable loss in strength or rigidity?

I'm a newb as well. I have a few questions.

What's so special about that group buy?
Looking at the CMMG site, that cost is more than what I can get it for if I bought it from the CMMG site. Are you getting more from the group buy?
Isn't it too late to get in on that buy?
Who sells the BM Ultralight 16"?

This is a chrome lined 1:7 twist mid length made to Mil spec (not that there is one for mid length barels).
