I just put together a 16" CAR off a RRA kit using a Mega lower. Turned out great.

Well, I bought two lowers, a second one as an investment. But I've been seeing some pretty good prices ($260 for a complete upper).

It's gotten me thinking about assembling the extra lower into a 20" battle rifle.

I know I can get an A2 complete stock for $35, maybe less if I can grab somebody junking a car collapsable stock. I figure that lower parts kits are pretty standard around $50-$60.

So what's my best option for bolt carrier / bolt /charging handle and complete upper?

Ideally, I want an A-1 upper, but I'm going for cheap, so it doens't matter. Just gotta be reliable, but cheap. =)

Well I've been seeing some complete uppers go for as cheap as $260.

I'm hoping to get an A2 stock for $30, parts kit for $50, and a complete upper for $250. I just put my other one together a month ago, so I'm going ot take my time for assembling it, slowly getting piece by piece as they get cheap and cheap. =)

I've got a used A2-style complete upper, w/ bolt and carrier but minus charging handle, that I'll sell you for $175 - and that may be negotiable.

Heck, I was just about to drive to the gunshow and try to sell it there - I'm moving and want to get rid of extra stuff. Helping out an arfcommer would be preferred to be robbed by a dealer at the show.

It's generic, no chrome, no frills A-2 "no-ban" style. For a guy who wants something on the cheap, it's perfect.
