To remove the buffer, are supposed to be able to just depress the buffer detent, and move the buffer and spring past if?  This doesn't seem too easy, so I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing.

With the hammer cocked, depress the detent, push back the buffer about an inch into the tube, let it fly forward. Hard to describe, but once you do it, you'll see what I mean.
