Does anyone have any advice/links about building up a dedicated 22 upper?

Is a dedicated upper more reliable/accurate than a kit/conversion?

Is it worth building one up or would I have just as much into the DIY as the new ones cost?

*I am not afraid to camp out on the EE for parts deals*  Thanks

You might have some better luck in the rimfire & pistol cal. forum:

If you have a 1:12 barrel, you might be able to get good accuracy with a conversion. With a 1:9 barrel, prolly not so much.

Just pick out the DPMS dedicated upper assembly you like best and be done with it. If you like one that CheaperThanDirt sells, you're in luck--they sell them for $100 under list price.
